Elysium Healthcare

Background

Tydfil House, near Abergavenny, is a highly specialised care environment offering a bespoke stepped rehabilitation service for adult patients migrating from full time care to monitored self-sufficiency. Part of Elysium Healthcare, the house offers patients all aspects of self-contained living, combined with the confidence provided by immediate access to assistance.

Blueleaf has a long-standing relationship with Elysium, supplying housekeeping, medical consumables and equipment and we were invited to create a design scheme and project plan for Tydfil House.

The Challenge

Elysium sought a complete refit to include a more contemporary style of decoration and furnishings, working to a short and precise deadline.

Without ‘commercial access’ to the site, particular consideration had to be paid to residential neighbours and the use of public access. The designs and furnishing had to reflect the unique nature of the home, which offers care and encourages self-sufficiency in a ‘non-institution’ environment.

How we did it

Blueleaf provided a comprehensive 360’ ‘turn around’ scheme, that incorporated interior decor and furnishing schemes along with a delivery, logistics and installation plan able to meet client deadlines. As Blueleaf can offer this level of design and installation integration, from curtains and furniture, through to bedding and accessories, the project was delivered on time without compromising on any of its unique aesthetic requirements.

Understanding the specific characteristics of the location and its purpose, meant putting design and furnishing specifications at the heart of the project. Blueleaf’s designers were able to source and select a range of furniture and combine it with colour options and contemporary finishes for the client to choose from. The selection of a natural warm grey palette for the framework of the scheme, Scandi design pattern in the curtain fabric, and a vibrant orange accent colour alongside Orla Kiely’s playful patterns, gave a vibrant, fresh yet harmonious feel. The scheme presents a contemporary look and feel which can also meet the demands of modern care.

Blueleaf’s detail-driven planning, means that the Tydfil House project was completed on time and, critically, with minimum disruption to the private residential community around the site. Our team’s unmatched design experience means the result fully realised Elysium’s care vision of providing a genuine ‘gateway residence’ for residents looking to re-establish a sense of independent living.
